Personal statement

I am a dedicated Vascular Surgery Specialist.  My Basic Surgical training in West London  was followed by Higher surgical training in the Oxford Deanery. I have a broad experience of vascular surgery including all aspects of open surgery, dialysis access surgery and endovascular treatment. I am a Hybrid specialist capable of performing both open and endovascular treatment for all aspects of vascular surgery. My practice includes treatment of venous pathology with open surgery as well as Foam sclerotherapy and Endovenous Ablative techniques for varicose veins. From a peripheral arterial standpoint I perform open surgery with lower limb bypass as well as endovascular intervention with percutaneous angioplasty. My Aortic practice includes open surgical treatment of infra-renal aneurysm as well as complex aneurysms affecting the para-renal aorta. My particular expertise though lies in endovascular treatment of complex Aortic aneurysm with a practice that includes Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Complex aneurysms i.e. Branched or Fenestrated repair, Chimney repair as well as an evolving practice in management of Aortic Arch pathology. My practice involves very close collaboration with an extended team including Vascular Surgical colleagues, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology as well as Anaesthesia and Neurophysiology.

I have been fortunate to have benefited from some very good overall training but my endovascular training is second to none as a Surgeon. Beginning with my research thesis in Endovascular skills training at St Mary’s which gave me a solid grounding in basic endovascular techniques as well as the opportunity to see advanced cases. I was able to spend two years as an SPR at Wexham Park Hospital where I developed a solid working relationship with the Interventional Radiologist Marc Charig, performing regular Interventional lists and becoming familiar with EVAR. My first fellowship year in Melbourne allowed me to continue this with weekly peripheral angio sessions as well as basic and advanced EVAR.  This was followed by a further year of specific training with a Fellowship at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.  The Advanced Aortic and Peripheral Endovascular Surgery Fellowship is designed to train surgeons particularly in all aspects of complex EVAR (Branched, Fenestrated, Thoracic and Branched Arch) with particular emphasis on planning as well as the full range of peripheral endovascular intervention.  I offer interventional procedures for Aortic, peripheral arterial occlusive disease as well as Varicose Vein surgery.

Outside medicine, I am married with two children. We enjoy travel and good food in particular. I enjoy playing touch Rugby as well as golf and swimming.

Patient Reviews

"Following the discovery of abnormal blood pressure readings I was fortunate enough to be referred the consultant vascular surgeon Dr Neequaye.

Tests and scans revealed that I had a rare arterial plumbing configuration. Following discussion we decided that the condition would be managed medically with now annual checks and two yearly scans.

I am grateful for his level of expertise, the confidence this inspires and for the inclusive nature of our consultations. "

Mrs H from Liverpool

"I found him to be an extremely skillfull, cautious and approachable Vascular Surgeon and despite the challenges created by the pandemic left no stone unturned at the pre-op stage.

He was never rushed and always took time to explain, in layman’s terms, and sometimes with sketches precisely what he was proposing as the solution to my pending complex Aortic Aneurysm repairs.

My procedure took place in early June 2021, I now feel fit and well and extremely fortunate indeed that my Surgeon was Mr Simon Neequaye."

Brian D

"After struggling with the veins in my left leg for 8 years, deciding to proceed with treatment from Mr Neequaye was the best thing I ever did. He kept my calm throughout the procedure, and the results are better than I’d have imagined."
